IIC Innovation Ambassador Training Series by IIC & MHRD’s Innovation Cell
16th - 17th January 2020
To provide Ambassador training to the IIC Members of the Institutes, two-day IIC Innovation Ambassador Training Series was conducted by Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) & MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC), from 16th -17th January 2020, at LPU. Faculty member Mr. Amar Saraswat, Assistant Professor, IT Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram attended the “IPR & Technology Transfer” training series and became the IIC Innovation Ambassador of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram.
Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta honoured the elite guests. Inaugural Address was given up by Mr. Dipan Sahu, Executive Consultant, National Coordinator, Institution’s Innovation Council, followed by the special address by Mr. Ankush Prakash Sharma, Innovation Officer, MHRD Innovation Cell, IIC Regional Coordinator, NRO & NWRO Region.
The Ambassador Training Series was given up in four domains, i.e. Design Thinking & Innovation, IPR & Technology Transfer, Entrepreneurship Development Program and Pre- Incubation & Incubation Management.
In the IPR & Technology Transfer series, Speaker Mr. Pramod Kumar Singh, Advocate, The Legist, gave the introduction to IP and Types of IPR. Mr. Singh said Intellectual Property is the intangible creations of human intellect. He also discussed trademarks, sound marks, 3-D Trademarks, and the Geographical Indications. In the next session Mr. Vishwas Sethuraman S, Managing Associates, Rahul Chaudhary & Partners explained the participants, the difference between innovation & invention, identifying and evaluating Ideas, Novelty and Inventiveness.
Mr. Pramod continuing the session discussed Piracy & Plagiarism, Types of Plagiarism, which includes Copy & Paste Plagiarism, Word Switch Plagiarism, Metaphor Plagiarism, Reasoning Style / organizational Plagiarism. The next session was taken up by Mr. Vishwas where he discussed phases of patent application, and benefits of filing a patent. He also discussed the process of registering Industrial designs.
The first session of the day, on “Branding and Trademarks” was taken up by the eminent speaker Mrs. Pooja. She discussed types of trademarks, steps to register the trademarks, absolute grounds for refusal and registration of trademarks, defences to relative grounds of refusal.
The second session on “Geographical Indications” was taken up by Mr. Prateek. He discussed prominent GI’s of India, Uruguay Round of a GATT, Indian Legislations for Geographical Indications. Talking about the Geographical Indications, Mr. Prateek said, it is an indication which identifies such goods as agricultural goods or natural goods or manufactures in the territory of a country, where the a given quantity is there.
The third session was given up by Mr. Vishal Sharma, on “Transfer of Technology, Entrepreneurship & IP Interrelations”, in which he discussed the various aspects of technology transfer.
The last session of the series was taken up by Mr. Sanjeev Majumdar, NRDC, over “IPR & Technology Transfer”. He discussed on filing of patents, copyrights, trademarks, service marks, industrial designs, integrated circuits, geographical indications, trade secrets. He also discussed several initiatives of Govt. towards bringing up the new ideas from people and patenting it.
The overall series of the two-day IIC Innovation Ambassador Training Series proved fruitful to the participants as they learnt a lot on IPR & Technology Transfer and other several domains.
