World No Tobacco Day
31st May 2024
NSS Units, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram actively observed World No Tobacco Day held on 31st May, 2024. It is an annual event observed globally to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco consumption, educate people about the harmful effects of tobacco on health, encourage smokers to quit and protect non-smokers from second-hand smoke. The theme for 2024 is “Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference,” focusing on preventing the tobacco industry from targeting young people with harmful products and promoting policies that shield them from manipulative practices.
The NSS volunteers conducted an online quiz on the following key points:
- The prevalence of tobacco uses among youth and its concerning rise.
- The detrimental health effects associated with tobacco consumption.
- Government initiatives aimed at curbing tobacco use.
The QUIZ session aimed to not only inform but also aware the community. The volunteers facilitated discussions and provided informative pamphlets to solidify understanding. The outreach program at Village Patli served as a valuable platform to raise awareness about the importance of a tobacco-free lifestyle for a healthier community.
