MEET ON CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION

A program on Creativity and Innovation was initiated by Prof. S.K. Atreya, Chief Design Engineer (S.G.) IDD Centre, IIT Delhi on 23 May, 2015. The Director’s Meet program was attended by Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasad from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon.
This program emphasized on motivating and developing innovative ideas by Educational Institutions apart from providing formal education to students.
The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India provides various grants for innovation. Prof. Atreyadiscussed about Atal Innovation Mission, launched by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Industry (MSME) Government of India and on issues for social and economic betterment of the Nation through Innovation.
The objective of the meeting was to have maximum involvement of young people in the innovative work even with small ideas but keeping in mind about the materials, cost effect functional base, comfort with market value related to such innovation. Through this student, teachers, institutions and society will be associated ultimately with Industry directly or indirectly. He also suggested of creating an ‘innovative cell’ by institutions.
The main topic of discussion in the program was that how can the institutes motivate the people of the society. The dignitaries present at the meet highlighted that common people should be educated about the facts. In the United States both government and the people works together for such innovative outcomes, similarly in India this initiative should be followed and make the innovations effective for the betterment of the society .
The program was attended by number of Principals, Directors of various engineering Colleges and technical institutions and it concluded with the decision of starting an innovative cell in every institution.
