Invited to Judge the NVS National Science Exhibition 2024-25

Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra (Principal, DCE), and four faculty members Prof. Neha Chauhan, Dr. Ritu Pahwa, Dr. Vaishali Dixit and Prof. Pooja Khot of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram were invited to judge two sub-themes of the exhibition “Natural Farming” and “Communication & Transport” in the National Science Exhibition 2024 from 11th - 13th November, 2024 at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Farrukhnagar, Gurugram. The theme of the exhibition was "Science and Technology for Sustainable Future."
The exhibition aimed to inspire students to explore innovative solutions in transport and communication, emphasizing sustainability and technological advancements. The Principal along with faculty members of DCE served as distinguished panelist and judged the participating teams featuring an array of impressive projects that showcased the student’s ingenuity and problem-solving skills.
Each participant was required to develop original projects that aligned with the sub-theme of transport and communication, emphasizing innovative solutions for sustainability. Several notable projects were presented during the exhibition: Solar-Powered Electric Vehicles: Students showcased models of electric vehicles powered by solar energy, emphasizing the reduction of carbon emissions in transportation. Smart Traffic Management Systems: Projects included prototypes that utilized IoT technology to optimize traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance urban mobility. Eco-Friendly Packaging Solutions: Exhibits demonstrated sustainable packaging methods aimed at minimizing waste in logistics and transportation etc. Other notable entries included a herbal mosquito repellant for eco-friendly pest control, specially designed spectacles for the blind to aid navigation and a cost-effective one man controlled stretcher aimed at improving emergency medical response.
As a judge, the evaluation of the projects was based on several criteria: Innovation: The originality and creativity of the project, Scientific Rigor: The depth of research and understanding demonstrated, Practicality: The feasibility and potential impact of the proposed solutions and Presentation Skills: Clarity and effectiveness in communicating ideas during presentations.
The exhibition highlighted the transformative potential of student innovations and their role in shaping practical solutions to everyday challenges. The NVS National Science Exhibition 2024 successfully highlighted the importance of integrating science and technology for a sustainable future in transport and communication. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by students reflected a promising future for innovation in the fields. The event not only fostered a scientific mindset among participants but also inspired responsible citizenship through sustainable practices.
