National Conference on Biomedical Image Analysis & Processing

Electronics & Computer Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a National Conference on “Biomedical Image Analysis & Processing (BIAP-2015)” on June 13th, 2015 sponsored by “Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB)” under Seminar Symposia Scheme of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, New Delhi.
The conference was organized to provide a platform to bring together Scientists, Research Scholars and Professionals from all over India to present new ideas and ongoing research activities in the field of Biomedical Image Processing. Total Fifty nine participants from academia and industry attended and thirty presented their research papers in the conference.
The chief guest for the conference was Prof. (Dr.) Sneh Anand, IIT-Delhi, talked about the need of hardcore research in the areas of Image Processing like Medical Application, Defence Applications, Thermography, Ultrasound Image techniques. She also talked of various applications which require extensive use of image analysis techniques like: cancer & tumour detection based on image processing. To summarize her session, she threw light on the various ongoing research projects at IIT-Delhi in collaboration with AIIMS.
In the 1st Technical Session ten papers were presented from the Industry (Accenture, Aditya Birla, Keysight Technologies, Megicrete Solutions, Cyberlinks Pvt. Ltd. & many more). A wide variety of areas were covered like: Contribution of IT Industry in Biomedical Stream, review on Image Segmentation, Ultrasound Image Enhancement and many more.
In the 2nd Technical Session twenty papers were presented by research scholars. In this session highlighted topics were Brain Image Enhancement, Review of exudates detection methods, Feature Extraction Techniques for Image Retrieval etc.
The conference concluded with the certificate distribution ceremony and memento presentation to the chief guest as a token of remembrance. The convener for the conference, Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Ruhil expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the worthy chief guest & all the participants. The conference was a great learning experience for everyone and the participants gave valuable positive feedbacks.
