First Annual Innovation Festival of MIC, Launch of AICTE Quality Initiatives
& VC's Meet on Student Induction Programme

MHRD's Innovation Cell has organized the First Annual Innovation Festival in coordination with All India Council for Technical Education, to launch its Quality Initiatives and VC's Meet on Student Induction Programme on 11th September 2019 at AICTE Head Quarters, New Delhi. Mrs. Vimmi Malhotra, Head, Department of Information Technology and Mr. Amar Saraswat, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the event.
In the starting, Inauguration of Innovation Festival and Lamp Lightning Ceremony was witnessed by Guest of Honour, H'ble Minister of State for HRD, Mr. Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre, Chief guest, H'ble Minister of HRD, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', Prof. M. P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE, Dr. Abhay Jere, CIO, MIC, Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, Prof. D. P. Singh, Chairman, UGC, and Mr. R. Subrahmanyam, Secretary (HE), MHRD, Govt. of India.
The welcome address was given by Prof. M. P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE. During the festival, Innovation cell showcased more than seventy top students' innovation from across India apart from the Launch of Smart India Hackathon 2020, Atal Innovation ranking 2020 and Institutions Innovation Council 2.0.
Then, MIC and its future initiatives were discussed by Dr. Abhay Jere, CIO, MIC. He said, MHRD, last year initiated the separate Innovation cells with support from AICTE to foster the culture of innovation in all educational institutes of India. He stated, as India apprises to be five trillion dollar economy by 2024, India needs to emerge as global innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up hub. Considering India's current demography, youngsters need to be in the forefront. He also said, Indian Higher Education institutes pays a key role and has to emerge as centre of excellence producing global quality research and innovation.
Next, Prof. Anil D. Sahsrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE gave address to the audience. He discussed, Institutions Innovation Councils (IICS), India International Start-up Exposure, MHRD Innovation Cell. Then, the address was given by Prof. D. P. Singh, Chairman, UGC, in which he discussed the achievements of Smart India Hackathon 2019 and Launched Smart India Hackathon 2020. He also launched Deloitte Magazine in which certain achievements of the world's biggest Hackathon are mentioned. He also discussed Student and Faculty Development Program, proposed by IIC at international level.
In the end, Guest of Honour, H'ble Minister of state for HRD, Mr. Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre, Chief Guest, H'ble Minister of HRD, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', discussed about the achievements and the new initiatives. Their address was followed up by 'Release of SIH Report', 'Launch of SIH 2020', 'Launch of ARIIA 2020', 'Launch of IIC 2.0', 'Release of Start-up Policy Document', 'Launch of Technical Teacher's Training Module', 'Launch of ATAL Academics, 'Launch of Protsahan Mudra Scheme', and 'Launch of Vishwakarm Award'.
