Workshop on Emerging Technologies in Electronics and Communication
22nd May 2017
Mrs. Dimple Saproo Associate Professor ECE Department from Dronacharya College of Engineering , Gurgaon attended a one day workshop on “Emerging Technologies in Electronics and Communication” organized by IIIT , Delhi on 22nd May 2017.
The main objective of the workshop was to promote Research & Innovation, and to keep faculty members and the students abreast with the latest development and the emerging technologies, in the field of Electronics & Communication in particular, to serve the needs of industry, scientific community and society.
The workshop started with the introductory speech by Prof. G. S. Visweswaran (Faculty at IIT,Delhi). He introduced all the emiment speakers of the workshop. The Invited Speakers for the workshop were the faculty members of IIIT, Delhi where given a time frame of 30 - 40 minutes to share their experience in the field of ECE.
The Eminent Speakers were:
Dr. Sujay Deb(Assistant Professor,IIIT), Dr. Sanjit Krishnan Kaul (Assistant Professor,IIIT), Dr. Alexander Fell (Assistant Professor,IIIT), Dr. Shobha Sundar Ram(Assistant Professor,IIIT), Dr. Anubha Gupta(Associate Professor), Dr. Sneh Saurabh(Assistant Professor,IIIT) and Dr. Saket Anand(Assistant Professor,IIIT).
The session of the workshop started with a brief idea on “Large Scale many core processors”, its advantages and the challenges faced by core processors i.e .Power Dissipation, Scaling etc. by Dr. Sujay Deb. He also discussed the Limitation of a Traditional NOC, Multi – hop wire line communication, Novel Interconnect paradigms for many core design.
Next was the lecture of Dr. Sanjit Krishnan Kaul on “Advances in wireless communications”. He started with the history of wireless communication and the development in past decade, Specifications, High Ap Density WiFi Networks, optimization and Planning.
Then Dr. Alexander Fell discussed a project guided by him tilted“A low cost low power Nest monitoring System for snow petrels”, snow petrels are the small birds living in Antarctica, they made a low cost Detector using Ardiuno based LDR Sensor.
Continuing the workshop Dr. Shobha Sundar Ram briefed her research topic “Radar tracking of Human”, she developed a RADAR based technology to detect motion like walking, crawling, running etc. She also discussed the results based on her research.
The workhop proceeded with the lecture of Dr. Anubha Gupta. She dicussed with the participants her research work on “Bio medical signal Processing”. She also gave an information about some important research problems linked as Early desease diagnosis, neuro-Rehablitation, Early stroke prediction by ECG Scans etc. She also discussed the Research Problems in MRI and Genomics, Like cancer diagnosis, gene expression/classification, detection of deterious genes, Drug design.
Dr. Sneh Saurabh gave a lecture on “An Overview on Nanoelectronics”, he discussed the Nano - Scale size, Scanning Tunnel Microscope(STM), TFETs, NCFETs, NEMS etc. The session of the speakers ended by an overview about an ongoing project guided by Dr. Saket Anand titled as “Self - Driven car” ( Sponsored by Mahindra Motors). He discussed the technologies and sensor used to make it driver less. He also conversed about the driver less E-Rickshaw, project they are currently working on. He also discussed the Google Self Driving cars , Various levels of Autonomy in car driving.
In the end of the Dr. Anand and Dr. Saurabh concluded the workshop followed by small interaction of the participants and the speakers , and then certificates were distributed to participants.
