Workshop on Machine Learning
24th April 2024
To discuss about the recent trends in the field of Machine Learning, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram was organized a “Workshop on Machine Learning”, on 24th April 2024. Students from CSE, ECE, IT and ME Department attended the Workshop. The key resource person of the workshop was Dr. Ritu Pahwa, Assistant Professor, and CSE (AIML) Department.
During the session, Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra, Principal, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon discussed usage of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning to the participants, and motivated the participants to learn new technologies.
Next, Dr. Ritu Pahwa discussed the real life examples of technologies that are used in day to day life. Stating about the artificial intelligence, he said, Building an AI system is a careful process of reverse-engineering human traits and capabilities in a machine, and using its computational prowess to surpass what we are capable of.
Dr. Ritu Pahwa said, Machine Learning teaches a machine how to make inferences and decisions based on past experience. It identifies patterns, analyses past data to infer the meaning of these data points to reach a possible conclusion without having to involve human experience. This automation to reach conclusions by evaluating data, saves a human time for businesses and helps them make a better decision. She also explained the various types of learning processes, algorithms and how testing is carried out in Machine Learning.
After that Dr. Ritu Pahwa explained about types of artificial intelligence, which includes Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI), Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI). With the help of a python code, the speaker also explained about the implementations of the algorithms, through which the machine can take decision.
Continuing the session, Dr. Ritu Pahwa explained the core areas, which are benefited by Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Then, he clearly explained the difference between machine learning and deep learning in various aspects.
Dr. Ritu Pahwa also discussed the convolutional neural networks and its applications. He also explained about various deep learning algorithms such as bound box detection algorithm and object recognition algorithm, such as SVM with hog. Next with the help of an example, she explained fuzzy logic, its importance and how the membership function is calculated in context with the self-driving cars. Through python programming, she demonstrated that how AI could be implemented in a simple game.
Workshop ended with feedback session and valedictory session. Faculties gave the feedback of the session and discussed their learning from this program. Then, Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra, Principal, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon and Dr. Ritu Pahwa, gave certificates to all the participants.
