NSS Programme Officers' Workshop on Bharat Portal and Digital Literacy

NSS Program Officers Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Anupam Dalal & Mrs. Pooja Sharma from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram attended two-day workshop on the “Bharat Portal and Digital Literacy” conducted for NSS Programme Officers from Gurugram and Faridabad on 25th – 26th April, 2024, at Amity University, Gurugram organized by Department of Youth Affairs Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The workshop aimed to equip NSS Programme Officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively utilize the Bharat Portal and promote digital literacy among NSS volunteers.
The workshop curriculum likely covered the following topics:
- Introduction to the Bharat Portal:An overview of the Bharat Portal, its purpose, and the various services it offers to citizens.
- Navigating the Bharat Portal:Participants gained hands-on experience on navigating the portal, accessing essential services, and understanding the user interface.
- Leveraging the Bharat Portal for NSS Activities:The workshop explored ways NSS Programme Officers can integrate the Bharat Portal into their volunteer programs, such as raising awareness about government schemes, facilitating online service applications, and promoting digital inclusion among communities.
- Enhancing Digital Literacy:The workshop included sessions on essential digital literacy skills, covering areas like internet safety, information security, and responsible online behavior. Participants learned effective communication strategies to train NSS volunteers. They were quipped with newfound expertise in using the MY Bharat portal and its offerings, these master trainers were poised to empower MY Bharat organizations and volunteers nationwide, marking a significant stride in youth empowerment across India.
The Masters trainers' got an opportunity to get motivated through inspirational words of Prof. P.B. Sharma (Vice Chancellor, Amity University) which led the participants to develop a vision about the growing Indian youth and India as a growing economy through the youth.
The workshop empowered the participating NSS Programme Officers to become master trainers and were equipped with the necessary knowledge to train other NSS Programme Officers on using the MY Bharat portal effectively. The workshop served as a significant step towards empowering NSS volunteers across India by enhancing their digital literacy and access to the MY Bharat platform's offerings.
