Workshop on
Stress Management & Professional Excellence

Yog Club and NSS Units, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram hosted a workshop titled “Stress Management and Professional Excellence” on 3rd February 2024. The resource persons of the workshop are BK Dr. Sonam and BK Sonia. 120 students, 45 faculty and staff members attended the workshop. Dr. Isha Malhotra (Principal, DCE) and Dr. Hansraj (Registrar, DCE) welcomed the esteemed resource persons. Faculty members, staff members, and a large number of enthusiastic students participated in the workshop. The workshop aimed to equip participants with valuable knowledge and tools to navigate the demands of academic and professional life with greater ease and effectiveness.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by the organizers, followed by an insightful opening speech by Dr. Isha Malhotra emphasizing the importance of mental well-being and professional growth in today's fast-paced world.
Then, BK Dr. Sonam and BK Sonia delivered an engaging and informative presentation. They explored the various aspects of stress, including its causes, consequences, and effective management techniques. The session incorporated interactive activities, group discussions, and practical exercises, fostering active participation and personalized learning.
The speakers uttered the crucial relationship between stress management and professional excellence. They explained how stress can hinder productivity, creativity, and overall performance, while effective management techniques can empower individuals to excel in their professional endeavors. Valuable tips were shared on maintaining a healthy work-life balance, setting realistic goals, building resilience, and fostering a positive mindset.
Stress therapy is a group of talk therapy methods, techniques, strategies, or programs to prevent and treat stress. The benefits of stress therapy go beyond stress prevention and reduction and include improved physical, mental, and emotional health and quality of life. Cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and psychodynamic therapy are examples of stress therapy methods. The speakers outlined the importance of practices like meditation, deep breathing, and yoga which can reduce stress and promote mental well-being. Further, the resource person spoke about the importance of effective time management and goal setting, setting positive outlook also strengthened one’s ability to bounce back from challenges.
Benefits/Outcome: Participants gained valuable knowledge and practical tools through the workshop. They understood stress and recognized the various forms of stress. All the attendees also understood the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyle, regular exercise, healthy eating habits, and adequate sleep which are essential for maintaining physical and mental well-being.
