National Sports Day Celebrations 2025

NSS Units and Sports Club, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, celebrated National Sports Day from 29th – 31st August, 2025 to honor the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand and promote a culture of fitness and sportsmanship. The celebration was conducted with the theme of core values of excellence, friendship and respect. The three-day event brought together students and staff to participate in various sports activities and take a pledge to embrace a healthy lifestyle. This year’s celebration was aligned with the vision of the Fit India Movement, echoing the powerful tagline: "Har gali har maidan, Khele sara Hindustan." The celebration was marked by a variety of events designed to encourage mass participation and team spirit.
The event commenced with a solemn pledge, in which all participants vowed to make sports and fitness a regular part of their daily lives. The pledge emphasized the importance of a healthy mind in a healthy body.
A thrilling Kho-Kho tournament was held, showcasing the agility and strategic prowess of the participants. The matches were a testament to the students' teamwork and competitive spirit. Various track and field races were organized, including sprints and long-distance runs, which saw enthusiastic participation from students and staff members. In addition to Kho-Kho and races, a variety of other games were conducted, ensuring that every participant had an opportunity to engage and enjoy the event.
The NSS volunteers played a crucial role in coordinating and managing the various sports events, ensuring the safety of all participants, upholding the principles of fair play and sportsmanship and encouraging maximum participation from all students and staff.
