Faculty Development Program on Advance Programming
4th - 6th January 2017
CSI Student Chapter, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organised a three day Faculty Development Program on “Advanced Programming” from 4th - 6th January 2017 in the College Premises. FDP was conducted by faculty members, Mrs. Neha Singla (HOD, CSE Department), Ms. Anu Rani (IT Department), Ms. Ashu Khurana (CSE Department) and Ms. Poonam Yadav (IT Department). They spoke on HTML, JAVA, Android and C language respectively.
Ms. Anu Rani (IT Department) gave lecture on “Introduction to Web Development”. She explained HTML, its tags and headings. She discussed HTML tags like paragraphs, links, elements, images, display, fonts, alignment, colours and tables with advanced concept of HTML with physical and logical tag. The use of CSS alongwith the types of CSS were also explained with live demonstration. The basics of Java Script and the necessity of Java script with HTML in the field was also discussed. The Lectures covers all the brief and detailed explanations of the elements of HTML.
Mrs. Neha Singla (HOD, CSE Department) discussed “C language”. The key topics included basics of C, operators used in C as well as the control and conditional statements. She further added the use of functions and arrays in C language. Also the areas such as strings and pointers were talked upon.She also explained about the importance of C programming as it is the base to Various Languages. She also focused on some important C language based project and how C language helps todays Developer’s to develop new technologies and Inventions. She also mentioned that C language is one the easiest language to understand, learn and develop new technologies.
Mrs. Ashu Khurana (CSE Department) explained “Java and its programming paradigm”. She focussed on topics such as control statements in Java. Java includes classes, their inheritances, overriding and overloading of methods which were all considered in the lecture. She explained the concept of exception handling as well. Also, the use of interfaces, packages and their access controls alongwith abstract classes and methods were dealt with. She ended the session by saying that Java is one of the most important used in today’s Generation. There are Various Industry that work on the Java Language only and Design Java Based Projects. She said that Java is a general purpose computer Programming Language that is concurrent,class based, object oriented and specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible.
Ms. Poonam Yadav (IT Department) discussed “Android and its application”. She explained the history of Operating System. She also stated the importance of Android in our day to day life. She covered the various developments that took place in the field of Android from its beginning to its updated version. The lecture also covered the Android Architecture and the basic layout of Android. She encouraged the students to develop their own Android App. She ended the session by explaining the Android Gamming Programming and its importance.
In the end of the program certificates were provided to all the faculty members.
The FDP was beneficial for faculty members as it focused on the latest engineering trends. It also helped in guiding the students for their projects.
