Faculty Development Program on "Cyber Security"
3rd - 7th July 2023
Ms. Sukrati Chaturvedi and Mr. Naveen, faculty of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram attended a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Cyber Security” from 3rd -7th July, 2023. It was conducted by the Delhi University Computer Centre (DUCC) at the University of Delhi in collaboration with ICT Academy.
In an era marked by rapidly evolving technology and an increasing number of cyber threats, equipping ourselves with the necessary knowledge and skills in cyber security has become paramount.
The FDP began with a compelling introduction emphasizing the critical importance of cyber security in the current digital landscape. By shedding light on real-world cyber threats, data breaches and their consequences, the participants were made aware of the urgency to safeguard sensitive information and protect themselves and their students from potential cyber-attacks.
Hands-on Training and Simulations: To reinforce the learning experience, practical sessions were organized. Participants were given the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-life scenarios, such as identifying phishing emails, conducting vulnerability assessments, and practicing incident response procedures. The hands-on approach enhanced their problem-solving skills and bolstered their ability to handle potential cyber security incidents.
Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Learning: The FDP brought together faculty members from various departments and academic disciplines, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. Participants were engaged in lively discussions and brainstorming sessions, identifying areas where cyber security principles could be integrated into their respective subjects. This cross-disciplinary approach enriched the learning experience and encouraged innovative ideas for incorporating cyber security education throughout the curriculum.
Cultivating a Cybersecurity Mindset: Participants learned to adopt a proactive approach in safeguarding sensitive data, implementing secure online practices, and educating students on digital safety. This shift in mindset is crucial in creating a cyber- security-aware culture within college community.
Equipped with practical knowledge and resources, faculty members are now better equipped to educate students on digital ethics, responsible online behavior, and the importance of cyber hygiene.
The program covered a wide range of topics, including cyber security fundamentals, best practices in securing online platforms, data privacy, and ways to identify and mitigate cyber risks. The engaging and informative sessions instilled confidence in the faculty members, making cyber security concepts more accessible. By addressing the significance of cyber security, providing expert guidance, and fostering a collaborative learning environment, the FDP has strengthened faculty’s ability to navigate the ever-changing cyber security landscape.
