Alumni Talk on Career Counselling for Future

IEEE Student Chapter, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized an insightful online “Alumni Talk on Career Counselling for Future” on 29th June, 2024. The session featured Mr. Vaibhav Chachra, a Digital Marketing Professional with over 10 years of global experience and currently serving as the Sr. Strategic Partner Manager at Google.
24 Students from IV sem, ECE/ECS/EEE and 14 VI semester students of ECE/ EEE participated in the talk through Google Meet platform. At the start, Prof. Dimple Saproo (Faculty, DCE) welcomed the Alumni Guest and the students. Afterwards, Dr. Dheivanai (Faculty, DCE) introduced the guest to the students.
Mr. Chachra emphasized the importance of taking personal responsibility for one's career. He encouraged students to be proactive, take initiative, and continuously manage their career paths. He discussed about emerging trends in the technology and marketing sectors, highlighting the importance of staying updated with industry developments. The segment provided students with insights into potential future career opportunities and the evolving job market.
Mr. Chachra stressed upon the significance of internships, skill development, and engaging in relevant projects during the third and fourth years of education. He provided practical advice on how to leverage the experiences to build a strong foundation for future career. He concluded his presentation with an inspiring quote: "There is a mountain you want to get to. There are mountains that will get you there. Remember to hold on to joy as you climb both."
Following the presentation, Mr. Chachra engaged in a dynamic query session where students posed several questions. Key queries included:
Guidance on APM (Associate Product Manager) or APMM (Associate Product Marketing Manager) Entry-Level Roles at Google. He has provided detailed guidance on the skills and experiences necessary for securing entry-level roles at Google, emphasizing the importance of relevant internships, networking, and demonstrating a strong understanding of product management and marketing.
He addressed the necessity of an MBA degree, explaining that while it can be beneficial for certain career paths, it is not always mandatory. Mr. Chachra highlighted that hands-on experience, skills, and a strong professional network often weigh more heavily in the tech and marketing industries.
Throughout the session, Mr. Chachra shared his own experiences across different fields, provided students with practical insights and actionable advice. His comprehensive responses and real-world examples resonated well with the participants, making the session both informative and inspirational.
