Workshop on MERN Stack Development
16th October 2026
Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, organised a hands-on workshop on MERN Stack Development on 16th October 2026 to provide students with practical exposure to modern full-stack web development technologies. Second- and third-year B.Tech students from the CSIT, IoT, CSE, and CSE-AIML departments participated in the programme. The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by familiarising students with contemporary web development tools, frameworks, and application-building techniques.
The technical sessions were conducted by Mr. Tanishq Mishra, Software Developer, and Ms. Anamika, Corporate Representative, from Splen Technologies and Education Pvt. Ltd. The resource persons introduced the four core technologies of the MERN stack—MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js - and explained their roles in developing dynamic and scalable web applications. Students explored backend development using Node.js and Express.js, including server configuration, routing, middleware, request-response handling, RESTful APIs, and package management through NPM. The discussion also highlighted the importance of structured coding practices and efficient server-side programming.
The database session focused on MongoDB, a NoSQL database used for document-oriented data storage. Participants learned about data modelling, CRUD operations, schema validation, and database connectivity using Mongoose. The frontend session introduced React.js, covering JSX, reusable components, state management using React Hooks such as useState and useEffect, and API integration through Fetch or Axios. These concepts helped students understand how data is stored, processed, and presented through different layers of a web application.
Practical demonstrations highlighted the integration of frontend interfaces, backend services, and databases to build a full-stack application. Students explored how React components communicate with Express.js APIs and MongoDB to perform common application operations. The sessions also addressed development environment configuration, project structure, API testing, debugging, and basic deployment concepts. These demonstrations offered a practical understanding of the web development lifecycle and the coordination required among different technologies to create functional applications.
An interactive question-and-answer session enabled participants to clarify technical concepts and discuss real-world challenges in full-stack development. Mr. Tanishq Mishra and Ms. Anamika shared industry-oriented insights into project architecture, software development practices, and career opportunities in web development. Participant feedback reflected appreciation for the practical approach and clear explanations provided during the workshop. The programme enhanced students' technical awareness, encouraged problem-solving, and motivated them to apply their learning through independent projects and further practice.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the resource persons and the participation of students and faculty members. The programme strengthened students' understanding of full-stack web development and familiarised them with industry-relevant technologies used in building modern applications. The attendance sheet and student feedback forms were maintained as supporting documents for the event.
