Expert Session on “Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking”
21st October 2026
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, organized an expert session on “Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking” on 21st October 2026, under the guidance of Dr. Monika Rani, Head of the Department of ECE.Students from the second and third years of ECE, ECS, ME, and RA actively participated in the programme.
The session was delivered by Mr. Poorvak Kapoor, Vice President of Technology at Euler Motors, who shared valuable industry insights into analytical reasoning, innovation, and effective problem-solving in engineering. During the session, Mr. Kapoor emphasized the importance of understanding a problem before attempting to solve it. He explained how identifying root causes, analysing available information, evaluating alternatives, and implementing appropriate solutions form the foundation of effective decision-making. He also highlighted the role of critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative teamwork in addressing complex engineering challenges and driving technological advancement in modern industries.
The expert encouraged students to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications by developing a structured, logical, and solution-oriented approach. Industry-oriented examples helped participants appreciate how engineers apply analytical skills and innovative thinking to overcome real-world challenges, improve processes, and develop effective technological solutions.
An interactive question-and-answer session further enriched the programme, as students raised queries related to problem-solving methodologies, emerging technologies, industry expectations, and practical engineering scenarios. Mr. Kapoor addressed their questions with relevant explanations and professional perspectives, providing participants with a clearer understanding of the skills and competencies required in the evolving engineering landscape.
The session provided valuable exposure to industry practices and reinforced the importance of critical thinking, analytical reasoning, innovation, and informed decision-making in engineering education and professional development. Under the guidance of Dr. Monika Rani, the initiative supported students in strengthening their problem-solving abilities, broadening their industry perspectives, and preparing for the demands of a technology-driven professional environment.
