4th Youth Festival
3rd - 5th November 2023
The Youth Festival is an annual gathering of youth for various competitive events including Folk songs, Folk dance, Debate, Painting, Documentary etc. It is organized by the Department of Student Welfare, Gurugram University. In 2023 4th edition of the festival is hosted at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Farrukhnagar, Gurugram from 3rd - 5th November 2023. Over 1200+ Youth, Artists, and Performers from across the Haryana participated in the event.
The centre of the festival focuses on cultural aspects and social tie-up exchanging synergies and ideas through various activities and provides a state wide exposure to the youth for the expression and fulfilment of their cultural talents and aspirations.
The youth festival aims to propagate the concept of national integration, the spirit of communal harmony, brotherhood, courage, and Indian culture amongst the youth by exhibiting their cultural prowess on a common platform. Youth Festival allows youth across the state to discuss, debate, share their experience and aspirations, understand and enjoy the rich pluralistic diversities, and appreciate the underlying current of oneness and unity in these diversities.

Total 44 events were planned on 4 venues, Stage 1 – Main stage (grounds), Stage 2 – Auditorium (2nd Floor), Stage 3 – Room 404(3rd Floor) and Stage 4 – Room 406 & 407(3rd Floor). 21 college submitted their consent for participation. Out of which 20 colleges registered on 3rd November with 1200+ participants. All contingents consisted of Contingent in charge, participants, Faculty In charges and volunteers.
Opening Ceremony – 3rd November 2023
The 4th Youth festival 2023 was inaugurated by Prof. Dinesh Kumar (Honourable Vice Chancellor, Gurugram University). His speech emphasized on Yuva Shakti being the driving force for attaining development. Prof. Dinesh Kumar said cultural and creative activities inspire students to excel, ignite brains and nurture heritage in future generations. He also highlighted the important role of universities in shaping the talent of the young generation. He said the path to society's prosperity goes through teaching institutions. Dr. Karthikyan T (Dean Students’ Welfare), Prof. Subhash Chander Kundu (Dean Faculty of Life Sciences), Prof. Rakesh Kumar Yogi (Dean Faculty of Law & Humanities), Prof. Mukesh Kumar Dean Faculty of Science & Technology, Dr. B M K Prasad (Convener Youth Festival, Director Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram) were the among the dignitaries. The opening ceremony was preceded by a Procession, a cultural Parade that blurred the boundaries by a rare display of camaraderie. Mahavir Guddu present in the festival narrated the heroic story of Raja Nahar Singh in a great manner.
On the 1st Day 18 events were conducted across 4 venues. The performances were celebrated with grace and admired with amazement. The props, rhythms, special costumes, extensive jewels, designs made these events livelier. Choreography, Ghazals, Geet, Bhajan, Group Song (General), Sanskrit Drama, Sanskrit Shlok Pronunciation, Rangoli, Clay Modelling, On the Spot Painting, Poster Making, Skit (Haryanvi), Group Song (Western), Poetry Recitation Hindi, Poetry Recitation Punjabi, Poetry Recitation Urdu and Haryanvi, Speech Competition in Sanskrit, etc were organized. At the Youth Festival, the culture of different provinces on every stage can be seen. Students on stage tied the program through their presentation.
2nd Day – 4th November 2023
Second day of Youth Festival is dedicated to arts and culture. Somewhere the ankle's digging and somewhere the tunes of songs. Day 2 of participants showed their talents in dance and music competitions. Classical dance as well as participants presented solo dance, folk dance. Agility, strength, balance, hand eye coordination, accuracy, strategy, intuition and patience are perfectly blended and performed in events. Youths got a platform to showcase their skills in Sculpture, Painting, and Photography. Young Artists decorated the campus with paintings, photographs, rangoli and clay sculptures from all over the country.
Closing Ceremony – 5th November 2023
On the 3rd day of Youth Festival 'Shankhnaad' 4 of Gurugram University concluded. Chief Guest Shri. Anand Mohan Sharan (Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Government of Haryana) and Guest of Honour Prof. Dinesh Kumar (Honourable Vice Chancellor, Gurugram University) felicitated all winning teams with trophy. Shri. Anand Mohan Sharan mentioned the importance of attending such programs and also stressed on the importance of understanding of different cultures and traditions across the nation. More than 1200 participants from 20 colleges associated with Gurugram University participated in 44 competitions in the three-day Youth Festival 'Shankhnaad' 4. He said that the overall trophy of Youth Festival was won by Dronacharya Government College, Gurugram. Gurugram University Captured Prithvi and Geetanjali Trophy. Haridas Trophy won by Government College Girls sector 14. The performance of students in Shankhnaad-4 was commendable. Where the students performed classical dance, Indian classical music (example) (vocal instrument), ghazal/songs/bhajan, solo dance (folk) female, one-act-play, mime, debate (hindi), debate (English), clay modelling, documentary, procession, best actress-one act play, first place and Qawwali, Western vocal (single), folk song (Haryanvi), folk song (general), Skit Haryanvi, short film, poetry recitation (Punjabi) Urdu, Haryanvi, made the university proud. The Ceremony concluded with a highlight of the best performances of youth Festival.
