Participation at Youth Red Cross Training Camp
27th - 31st January 2025
Abhishek (26010, CSE Dept.),Mohit Jangra (26452, CSIT Dept.), Garima Ahuja (27060, CSE Dept.), Milan Tyagi (26328, CSE-AI&ML), and Vanshika (26406, CSE-AI&ML) of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram participated in the 5 Days Youth Red Cross Training Camp organized by Youth Red Cross (YRC) Society at DPGITM College, Gurugram from 27th – 31st January, 2025. The camp was organized with the YRC Motto: "Serve to Save" — emphasizing compassion, humanity, and selfless service. Esteemed DPGITM Officials and Prominent Members from YRC were the Chief Guests and Guests of Honor for the event.
The Youth Red Cross (YRC) is a voluntary organization aimed at developing a humanitarian spirit and service-oriented mindset among youth. Operating under the Indian Red Cross Society, it trains young volunteers in health, safety, and disaster management practices.
Various sports activities were organized during the camp and students of DCE won Gold Medal in activities:

- Mohit Jangra {Nimbu Race ( Boys) – Gold Medal}
Day 1 - January 27, 2025: First Aid and Casualty Management Training
Key Topics Covered:
- Aims of First Aid:Providing immediate assistance, preventing injury aggravation, and promoting recovery.
- Qualities of a First Aider:
- H - Honesty
- O - Observer
- S - Sympathy, Safety
- P - Patience, Punctuality
- I - Intelligence
- T - Tech-savvy
- A – Alertness
- L - Loyalty (with confidence)
- Casualty Management:
- Use of gloves and polythene for protection.
- Response assessment techniques, including name-calling, pinching, and flashing light in eyes.
- Unresponsive patient techniques:
- Clearing airways and performing CPR on a hard surface.
- Monitoring breathing (Look, Listen, Feel).
- Special Cases:
- Pregnant women and severe burn victims can receive CPR following the "AAA Rule."
- For drowning casualties, CPR should be administered immediately without water extraction attempts.
Day 2 - January 28, 2025: Safety Techniques and Self-Defense
- Activities:
- Tug-of-war and other sports competitions.
- Intellectual sessions on self-defense and confidence-building led by experts.
- Cultural performances from participants.
- Key Learnings:
- Importance of maintaining situational awareness during emergencies.
- Strategies for self-defense in crisis situations.
Day 3 - January 29, 2025: Zumba, Sports Competitions, and CPR Techniques
- Activities:
- Zumba fitness session followed by sports and literary competitions.
- Sports events included a 100-meter race, lemon spoon race, and other fun activities.
- Intellectual sessions on life-saving techniques and effective CV building.
- Cultural programs featuring regional performances.
- Key First Aid Training:
- Proper recovery positions for unconscious casualties.
- Handling spinal injuries during emergencies.
- CPR techniques, including managing rib fractures.
Day 4 - January 30, 2025: Disaster Management, Business Strategies, and Health Checkup Camp
Key Sessions:
- Debate competition on disaster response.
- Health checkup camp aimed at promoting participant awareness about personal health and wellness.
- Discussions on business strategies and leadership.
- Training on managing head injuries and airway blockages.
Day 5 - January 31, 2025: Closing Ceremony
- Cultural showcases by participating contingents.
- Award distribution and certificate presentations.
- Farewell gathering and reflections on learning experiences.
Benefits/Outcome: Participation in YRC Training Camp empowered participants with essential life-saving skills and disaster management techniques. It emphasized the importance of youth engagement in national safety, social welfare, and crisis response, while fostering a spirit of compassion and service.
