Workshop on PCB Designing and 3D Printing
5th April 2025
Electronics and Communication Engineering Department and IEEE Student Chapter organized a workshop on PCB Designing and 3D Printing; two of the most in-demand technical skills in the electronics and embedded systems industry on 5th April 2025. The workshop was led by Er. Aditya Gautam, a respected alumnus known for his work in the field of electronics design. 60 students from Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), and Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) departments actively participated in the hands-on-session, highlighting the interdisciplinary appeal of the event. Dr. Neha Mathur was the faculty coordinator.
The workshop began with a foundational session on PCB designing, focusing on schematic design, layout generation, and component placement using professional tools. These were followed by an engaging module on 3D printing that included 3D modeling, slicing, and live demonstrations of printing procedures.
During the workshop, students gained valuable knowledge and skills through the following learning experiences:
PCB Design Fundamentals: Students learned how to create circuit schematics, design PCB layouts, and implement real-world design guidelines using industry-standard software.
Exposure to 3D Printing Workflows: The session provided an introduction to the 3D printing ecosystem including modeling tools, slicing techniques, and printer types, along with live printing demonstrations.
Industry Insight: The speaker shared insights on how PCB and 3D printing technologies are used in real-time industrial applications, highlighting career opportunities and trends.
Hands-On Learning: Students had the chance to interactively explore tools and ask questions, making the session more dynamic and application-oriented.
Participation from multiple departments showcased how knowledge of design and manufacturing processes is increasingly becoming a core skill across engineering disciplines.
Benefits/Outcome: The PCB Designing and 3D Printing Workshop offered students a unique platform to learn, interact, and upskill in cutting-edge technologies. The session reinforced the importance of combining theoretical foundations with practical skills in order to stay industry-ready.
