One Day Lecture on Stress Management

Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized one day lecture on “Stress Management” for its teaching and non- teaching staff members on 18th January 2022. Captain Manjula Katoch (Soft Skill Trainer) was the guest speaker for the lecture. The lecture was attended by 30 teaching and non -teaching members.
The lecture was organized with the motive to release the stress at work that leads to decreased productivity.
The event started with the inaugural speech by Prof. (Dr.) BMK Prasad (Principal, DCE). Dr. Prasad welcomed Caption Manjula Katoch and throw light on increasing levels of stress among students, teachers and society at large and the need to understand the causes and techniques to manage and tackle stress.
Next Capt. Majula started her lecture by asking questions to the participants what is stress? Is stress different from anxiety? Is it always bad? She answered questions interesting way using diagrams and examples from real life conditions. She interacted with the participants by asking about their goals and categorizing them into - Personal, Academic, Relational, professional and Social. She explained in detail the various reasons responsible for the increased level of stress among students and teachers in today’s time and emphasized on the need to identify the type of stress, as many times it goes unidentified. She described the major cause of stress was to fulfill the expectations of others. In order to manage stress a person has to find answers to questions such as besides others expectations what is his expectation from himself and to decide how much is too much for him.
The lecture concluded with a smile on the faces of faculty and staff members with a promise to deal with stress in a positive way.
