National Conference on Safety of Women at the Workplace (SHe-Box)

Students from Dronacharya College of Engineering - Kanan Jain (ECE), Priya (Mechanical Engineering), Shagun (ECE), and Tannu (ECE) - attended high-level National Conference at Vigyan Bhawan organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Developmentto strengthen the implementation of the SHe-Box (Sexual Harassment Electronic Box) initiativeon 14th February 2026 under the guidance of Dr. Anupam Dalal, NSS Program Officer. Their participation provided valuable academic exposure and enhanced their understanding of workplace laws, gender justice frameworks, and national policy initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment.
The conference brought together more than 1,500 participants, including Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, policymakers, legal experts, industry representatives, and international delegates. The primary objective of the event was to reinforce institutional mechanisms that ensure safer and more equitable workplaces for women across the country.
The conference was headlined by Hon’ble Union Minister Smt. Annapurna Devi and Minister of State Smt. Savitri Thakur. Key addresses were delivered by Shri Anil Malik, Secretary, MWCD; Shri Sudhanshu Trivedi; Smt. Rekha Sharma; Shri Sudhanshu Shukla; Smt. Shobhna Ben; and Ms. Padma Priya, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India. The dignitaries emphasized that workplace safety is not merely a regulatory requirement, but a constitutional commitment aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
During the session, significant milestones of the SHe-Box initiative were highlighted. Over 1.5 lakh workplaces have been registered under the framework, women’s labor force participation has reached 42%, and more than 60,000 Internal Committees have been established nationwide. A thematic film titled “Safe Workplaces as Drivers of Viksit Bharat through Equality and Economic Participation of Women” reinforced the idea that economic progress is deeply connected to ensuring dignity and safety at work.
Several new initiatives were launched during the conference, including the unveiling of a new SHe-Box logo, the introduction of a PoSH Voluntary Compliance Checklist for organizations, digital integration of the SHe-Box portal with the Mission Shakti App and Karmayogi Bharat PoSH training platform, and the administration of a National Workplace Safety Pledge. These measures aim to enhance transparency, accountability, and accessibility in grievance redressal systems.
In conclusion, the National Conference on Safety of Women at the Workplace marked a significant step toward strengthening India’s workplace safety ecosystem. While institutional structures and digital integrations have expanded considerably, the true success of these initiatives lies in fostering a culture of trust, dignity, and respect across all sectors.
