National Integration Camp

10 NSS student volunteers along with NSS Program Officer Dr. Anupam Dalal of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram participated in 7 days “National Integration Camp” at Adichunchanagiri University, Karnataka from 29th December, 2022 - 4th January, 2023. National Integration Camp was organized and sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India, Regional Directorate of NSS, Bangalore.
The motto of NSS was “Not Me, But You”. The prime aim of the camp was to offer first-hand experience to the volunteers for harmonious living and cultural exchange.
160 volunteers from 12 States across India participated in the camp. Ten NSS student volunteers of DCE Gurugram were Dhairya Valecha, Arjun Gupta, Kundan Kumar Yadav, Ajay Pandey, Ayush, Tamanna Nahar, Ritu, Yogita Kanyal, Manya Sehgal and Nishtha.
Day 1:
His Holiness Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji (Chancellor ACU) inaugurated the program. Dr. M.A Shekar (Vice Chancellor) Dr. S Chandrashekhar Shetty (former Vice Chancellor), T S Chakravarthy (TCS) Dr. C K Subbaraya (Registrar), Prof. N Ramu (NSS Programme Coordinator) and all the principals of constituent units of the university participated in the program.
Day 2:
Dr. C. K Subbaraya, (Registrar), Dr. B K Narendra (Principal of BGSIT), Prof. N Ramu (NSS Programme Coordinator) and Dr. T Mahadevaiah (Dean Academics) were the guest of honor for the program. The activities of Day 2 began with the flag hoisting by Dr. A.T Shivaramu. There was a warm-up and exercise session monitored by Dr. Raghavendra, Dr. Lingaraju and Dr. Kiran, and the Program Officers from various Universities. Then, there was a cleaning drive at Tapovana and a visit to Sri Kalabhairaveshwara Swamy temple. In the afternoon, there was an interaction session with the volunteers followed by cultural competitions. In the evening hours there was a technical session at the seminar hall of BGSIT on the topic “Indian Culture – A Colourful and Complex Blend”. Sri M.K Shankaralingegowda, retired IAS officer, was the resource person. He spoke eloquently on different religions, food habits, clothes, dance, music, martial arts etc. in India and how India has remained united inspite of all these differences. The session was very interactive. Cultural events were presented by all the participants from different states.
Day 3:
The third day of the camp began with flag hoisting by Dr. B K Narendra followed by yoga practice session under the guidance of Mr. Lakshman (Yoga Teacher). Then tree plantation was done in the premises of Nagarakallu temple at Sri Kshetra. It was followed by the technical session on the topic “Clean Revolution for New Generation”. The speaker was Sri Chandrashekhar H S (Assistant Professor) at MCE, Hassan. In the afternoon session there was a solo dance competition in which Tamanna Nahar of college performed a solo dance. It was followed by a technical session on the topic “Personality Development” by Sri Chethan Ram R A.
After the session, there was a state wise presentation of cultural events by the volunteers on the theme “Indian Festivals”. Sri Prasannaatha Swamiji graced the occasion and appreciated their various cultural presentations.
Day 4:
On day four, the activities started with the flag hoisting by Prof. G B Shivaraju (Trustee, Kasturaba Gandhi Ashram). Afterwards, there was an excursion for all the volunteers and programme officers. The excursion included the places such as Shravanabelagola, Belur and Halebeedu and all the volunteers were mesmerized on seeing the monolithic statues. After visiting these places, all of them were taken to Kasturaba Gandhi Ashram at Arsikere.
Day 5:
The activities of day 5 began with flag hoisting by Dr. B Ramesh (Dean and Principal, SACCP). Afterwards there was a yoga practicing session for all the volunteers and programme officers. In the afternoon, there was a technical session on the topic “Life Skill Education” by Mr. Sushi Kadanakuppe (Assistant Professor) at VS Dental College and Hospital, Bengaluru the session was hosted by – Dhairya Valecha, student of DCE, The session was very interactive with few activities assigned to the participants by the speaker. There were cultural events by volunteers which included dance performances and song singing prevailing in different states. DCE volunteers also presented a group dance in the event.
Day 6:
The activities of Day 6 began with flag hoisting by Prof. N Ramu (NSS Programme Coordinator, ACU). Afterwards there was a marathon run followed by Zumba dance by all the volunteers. In the afternoon, Ethnic day and Rangoli Competition was organized for all the volunteers and programme officers. Everyone witnessed different styles of tradition and culture. At the night, there was a Deepotsav under the supervision of Prof. Veeraiah, Retired Principal, JSS College. During the programme, all the volunteers had sung the songs on patriotism.
Day 7:
The last day of the camp started with flag hoisting ceremony by Sri B K Umesh (Finance Officer, ACU). The day started with a photo session followed by splendid dance by the volunteers of University of Calcutta followed by a solo dance by a volunteer from VS University. Prof. N Ramu, NSS Programme Coordinator, ACU thanked the guests, programme officers and volunteers. After his motivated speech, there was a prize distribution event. The Valedictory Ceremony of the camp was organized in the Seminar Hall of BGSIT for the best volunteer, best programme officer, best team and winners in the cultural competitions.
Dr. M.A. Shekhar (Vice Chancellor), Dr. N S Ramegowda and Prof. G B Shivaraju addressed the gathering. All of them complimented the volunteers and programme officers for their service in the camp. All the volunteers developed unity, team spirit, physical fitness, discipline, patience, integration, cooperation through participating in various activities.
