NPTEL Awareness Workshop

A one day workshop on NPTEL Awareness was jointly organized by NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) IIT Madras and Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurgaon on 20th of January, 2018 to create awareness about NPTEL at Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurgaon. 141 faculty members from 60 different institutes/universities from various states participated in the workshop.
The objective of the interactive workshop was to encourage the delegates to use experience of NPTEL for the benefit of students in their colleges.
Dr. B.M.K. Prasad (Principal, DCE) welcomed the resource person from IIT Madras and all the delegates from various institutes / universities.
The workshop was conducted in three sessions. The first and the second sessions were conducted by Dr. Prathap Haridoss (NPTEL Coordinators). His focus was basically on what is NPTEL and how is NPTEL different from other platform. He emphasized the need for the enhancement in the quality of engineering and science education in the present globally competitive age. He elaborated SWAYAM and NPTEL collaboration and also explained the strategy which the platform concatenates for its users. The presentation focused on the certifications and the graphs which NPTEL has been a part of, in the past few years.
The third presentation was conducted by Ms. Bharathi Balaji., (Senior Project officer of NPTEL IIT Madras). She focused on the issue of the local chapters and addressed how an institute can become a local chapter or a nodal chapter. She also showcased the top 10 local chapters who are the star performers to motivate the faculty members of different institutes. She provided delegates with a manual that could prove to be really beneficial in remunerating the problems which could be faced in the near future.
The problematic areas of concern were addressed during the interaction with the professional and the delegates. Feedbacks on the curriculum and practicum were also taken.
The workshop was concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Ashu Khurana, NPTEL Workshop Coordinator.
The workshop was fruitful as the NPTEL helps to disseminate online teaching/ learning contents of high quality and uses technologies for dissemination.
