Faculty Development Programme in Entrepreneurship
16th - 27th December 2019
To promote the Entrepreneurship and its related skills, EDII Ahmedabad organized a Faculty Development Programme in “Entrepreneurship”, from 16th - 27th December 2019 at its college campus. Mr. Amar Saraswat, Assistant Professor, IT Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the programme.
Day 1: 16th December 2019
First session of the day started with an Ice Breaking Activity for the interaction among the participants. Various groups were being made by Prof. Pankaj Bharti, Professor & Programme Coordinator, EDII, Ahmedabad and the certain parameters were given to discuss.
The next session was “Interaction with Director”, with Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director, EDII, Ahmedabad, where he discussed the barriers of entrepreneurship which included Entry, Exit and Growth Barriers. He also discussed the importance for creating large number of start-ups for the economy of India.
The third session was with Dr. Satya Ranjan Acharya, Associate Senior Faculty, EDII. He explained the basic difference between Enterprise, Entrepreneur and Entrepreneurship and how to create value and understand opportunity. He said, an entrepreneur is an opportunity obsessed with a goal of creating value without regard to resources currently controlled.
The last session of the day was conducted by Prof. Pankaj Bharti, where he explained “General Enterprising Tendency Test (GETT)” and its analysis to the participants.
Day 2: 17th December 2019
The first session of the day was delivered by Prof. S. B. Sareen, Sr. Faculty, EDII, Ahmedabad, on “ED Process”. He discussed the key component of Enterprise Creation Process. He also explained augmenting entrepreneurial supply through inducement, policy interventions, training interventions, provisioning of business development strategies.
The next session on “Entrepreneurship Teaching Models”, was taken up by Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, Faculty, EDII, Ahmedabad. He discussed various teaching learning models, uses of frameworks, Double Diamond Model and Triple Helix Model.
The next session was “Forms of Business Organization and Statutory Requirements”, by CA. Jignesh Shah. He discussed Limited Liability Partnership, Nature of Business, Scale of Operations, Degree of Control, Capital Requirement, Volume of Risks & Liabilities, Legal Formation, Winding Up or Closure, Comparability of Tax Liability, Sole Proprietorship, Partnership Firm, company and limited liability firm.
Day 3: 18th December 2019
The third day started with the recap session, given by the participants. The first session of the day was delivered by Prof. Pankaj Bharti, on “Entrepreneurial Motivation Training”. He explained, understanding the market needs, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, McCleland’s Achievement Motivation, Need for Affiliation i.e. relationships, and internal conditions which activates our behaviour.
In the next session, Prof. Pankaj Bharti took “Thematic Appreciation Test (TAT)”, which is an important asset for enhancing individual’s imagination and capacity to think fast. The test gave an opportunity to use imagination and to analyse how anyone can create ideas and situations.
In the third session, Prof. Pankaj Bharti conducted the “Ring Activity” with all the participants and gave its analysis. The activity was a means to think what kind of decisions could be taken in different situations.
Day 4: 19th December 2019
The first session of the day was delivered by Prof. Pankaj Bharti, on “Entrepreneurial Motivation Training” where he conducted the Business Game, in which the participants were designated with Owner, Supervisor and Worker and had to make the tower out of cubes by the blind folded worker. In the end, Prof. Bharti explained all the concepts with deep analysis.
The second session on “Decision Making Strategy” was taken up by Dr. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, where he discussed how to inspire the young students with the success stories of the successful entrepreneurs. He also discussed various decision taking strategies by quoting the real world examples.
Day 5: 20th December 2019
The first session of the day was delivered on “Pedagogical Tools for Entrepreneurship Education” by Prof. Ravi Joshi, Sr. Faculty, EDII Ahmedabad. He engaged the participants into various activities such as 30 Circle Exercise, 30 Square Exercise and conducted a “Torrence Test for Creativity”. He also discussed Activity Learning Mechanism and its approaches which include Trait based approach, process based approach, and method/ skill based approach.
In the next half, Incubation Visit was being organized for all the participants. Participants were taken to National Institute of Design India, where the incubation process was explained by Mr. Amit from NID, India. In the end, a visit to Sabarmati Ashram was organized by EDII, Ahmedabad.
Day 6: 21st December 2019
The sixth day started with the recap session, given by the participants. The first session of the day was delivered on “Business Opportunity Identification & Source of Information” by Prof. J. B. Patel, Sr. Faculty, EDII, Ahmedabad. He discussed various opportunity identification such as Entrepreneurship Background & Investigation, Educational Qualification & Experience, Location, Availability of Raw materials, Market Potential, Technology & Equipment, Infrastructural Requirements, Government Policy, Availability of Skilled Manpower and Pollution Control Laws.
The next session was on “Negotiation Skills” by Mr. R. K. Chopra, CMT AIMA & NOCN, UK. He discussed certain points on connecting with the audience, soft skills. Mr. Chopra also discussed Cases studies for Negotiation Skills.
Day 7: 22nd December 2019
EDII organized a visit to Statue of Unity on seventh day. The Statue of Unity is a colossal statue of Indian statesman and independence activist Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (1875–1950), who was the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of independent India and the chief adherent of Mahatma Gandhi during the non-violent Indian Independence movement. It is the world's tallest statue with a height of (597 ft) 182 metres.
Day 8: 23rd December 2019
The eighth day started with the recap session, given by the participants. The first session of the day was delivered on “Business Plan Preparation & Technical Analysis” by Prof. J. B. Patel Sr. Faculty, EDII, Ahmedabad. He discussed rules for exclusive storage, plant and machinery, Technical Feasibility Study, Preliminary & Preoperative Expenses, Working capital Margin. He also explained acceptance of the project which fails to reach projected performance is due to shortage of raw materials and inputs, shortage of man power and higher planned production costs.
The next session was taken up by Prof. Pankaj Bharti on “Entrepreneurial Research”, in which he discussed qualitative studies, case studies, historical and longitudinal analysis and grounded theory research.
The last session on “Business Plan Preparation- Market Analysis” was taken up by Mr. Ankit Katrodia, Entrepreneur, South Africa. He explained Marketing Porter’s Five Forces Model, PESTLE Analysis, Product Vs. Services, Environment Marketing, level of Service / product, business global analysis.
Day 9: 24th December 2019
The first session of the day was delivered on “Business Model Canvas” by Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, Faculty, EDII, Ahmedabad. He discussed Value Proposition & Business Model Canvas and co-creation approach. He discussed, a business model can be described in nine elements, enabling explicit dialog about choices, alternatives and opportunities.
The next session was taken up on “Entrepreneurial Stress and Management” by Prof. D. M. Pestonjee. He discussed in detail about stress management, copying with physiological symptoms, copying strategies and interventions, which includes chemical and non-chemical intervention strategies.
Day 10: 25th December 2019
The first session of the day was delivered on “Business Plan Preparation – Financial Analysis” by CA Jignesh Shah. He discussed in detail seven keys to competitive business strategy, which includes analysing strength and weakness, assessing the opportunity, determining the core values, defining end state goals, assessing related risks, implementing the strategy, and evaluating the business strategy.
In the next session, industrial visit to Kamakshi Prints Pvt. Ltd, Ahmedabad was organized for all the participants. Success story of the director of Kamakshi Prints Pvt. Ltd. was also discussed during the industrial visit.
Day 11: 26th December 2019
The eleventh day started with the recap session, given by the participants. The first session of the day was delivered on Promoting Science & Technology Entrepreneurship: Role of EDI/ DST by Mr. Prakash Solanki, in which he discussed about Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Entrepreneurship Development Programs.
The next session was taken up by Prof. Pankaj Bharti, Professor & Programme Coordinator, EDII, Ahmedabad on Creativity and Problem solving, in which he introduced Business Game to the students and analysed over the results obtained. Prof. Bharti also demonstrated how the Quality Enhancement Game can be analysed in detail.
Day 12: 27th December 2019
The first session of the day was “Curriculum & Action Plan Presentation” where all the participants gave presentation over the curriculum developed by them, as the part of assignment.
In the next session, valedictory ceremony was held in which Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director, EDII, Ahmedabad, discussed the importance of Entrepreneurship and distributed the certificate of participation to all the students.
