Alumni Interaction Program

Ms. Ayushi Mishra and Mr. Sahil Mudgil alumni, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon, were invited for Alumni Interaction Program, which was organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering, at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon on 7th September 2016.
Ms. Ayushi Mishra is a Software Engineer at IBM India Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Sahil Mudgil is a Software Developer atNucleus Software.
The alumni interacted with the final year students and gave tips on various aspects like Professional Resume Writing, Cracking Aptitude Exams, Facing Interviews & Group Discussions, Skill Development etc. They also focused on gaining more practical knowledge rather than theoretical, and shared their corporate experiences.
Initially, Mr. Mudgil gave his introduction to all the students. He shared his experience during his college days, and focussed on the importance of the time and its management. During the discussion, he said that our etiquettes matters a lot, when we go for an interview.
Mr. Mudgil discussed that the selection committee of every organization seeks a candidate, who is self-motivated, has lust to learn new technologies, is confident, and has good communication skills. He also discussed that communication is the heart of every organisation. Everything you do in the workplace results from communication. Therefore good reading, writing, speaking and listening skills are essential.
Focussing on Group Discussions done at the time of selection of a candidate, Mr. Mudgil said that the main reason for including it in selection criteria is that the effective teams need to work well together and the team cohesiveness depends on building strong relationships among team members.He explained try to get-acquainted in the activities to establish a positive, cooperative group climate, providing regular feedback to help the group to stay focused on goals, discussing one topic at a time, working through group conflicts rather than avoiding them, ensuring that all group members have an opportunity to state their views and clearly stating decisions so that all members understand.
Motivating the students, Ms. Mishra quoted that “A proton can never lose its positivity as so can’t you”. She said that getting covered by stress and worries saps away all the energy. Staying positive will help to overcome the toughest of challenges.
Talking about the interview skills, Ms. Mishra explained the importance of active listening. She said that from the very beginning of the interview, interviewer gives a little information, either directly or indirectly. If that information was not listened properly, major opportunity may be missed.
Ms. Mishra said that Personality Development is a tool to bring out one’s abilities and powers for making himself aware of his inner qualities and become more confident to face the outside world. Personality means uniqueness, individuality and appearance of a person and the reflection of thinking, emotions, behaviour, communication skills and corporeal characteristics.
Emphasising on the communication skills, Ms. Mishra said that when we take the time to acquire good communication skills, we open ourself up to better networks, more career opportunities, and increased self-confidence. Moreover, effective communication helps in working together harmoniously that results in high productivity and integrity.
Again taking the charge Mr. Mudgil discussed about leadership skills. He said leadership is the ability to influence other with or without authority. Leadership is the ability to develop a vision that motivates others to move with a passion towards common goal. Every leader and member of a group is responsible for creating and maintaining positive group dynamics through communication techniques. When trust and cooperation exist in a group, individuals, committees, organizations, and communities can greatly benefit.
The program proved to be very fruitful, interactive and knowledge sharing. It was a good opportunity for students, to interact with alumni and get ready for placement drive.
