Exploring the Future of Connectivity: DCE participates in the Workshop on 5G and Next-Generation Communication
24th July 2026
Two faculty members from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Dronacharya College of Engineering, Dr. Monika Rani and Ms. Amninder Kaur, participated in a One-Day Workshop on “5G Technologies and Applications: Enabling Next-Generation Communication Systems” held on 24th July 2026 at the 5G Use Case Technology Lab, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi. The workshop provided an opportunity to explore recent developments in 5G technologies and emerging communication systems shaping the future of wireless connectivity.
The workshop featured expert sessions delivered by eminent academicians and industry professionals, covering key developments in 5G, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), 6G standardisation and intelligent communication ecosystems. The sessions provided participants with insights into the evolution of next-generation wireless networks and the technological advancements expected to influence future communication infrastructure.
The first technical session was delivered by Sh. Ashok Kumar, DDG (SRI), Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on “Non-Terrestrial Networks and 6G Standardisation.” The session highlighted the growing role of satellite-integrated communication systems and provided insights into the development and standardisation of technologies supporting future 6G networks.
The second session was conducted by Prof.Vivek Ashok Bohara, IIIT Delhi, on “Towards Intelligent 6G Ecosystems: LiFi, Optical ISAC, RIS.” The session focused on emerging technologies such as LiFi, Optical Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) and their potential applications in developing intelligent and efficient communication systems.
The workshop also included an industry demonstration by Sh. Sonu Singh, Manager, QA Engineering, VVDN Pvt. Ltd., which provided participants with practical insights into the applications and testing of advanced 5G technologies. The demonstration helped bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and their implementation in industry-oriented communication systems.
Participation in the workshop provided with valuable exposure to cutting-edge developments in wireless communication and next-generation networking. The knowledge and insights gained are expected to contribute towards strengthening teaching practices, research activities and student learning in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
