“EkPedMaaKeNaam”: DCE NSS Volunteers Plant Seeds of a Greener Tomorrow
30th July 2026
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized the “EkPedMaaKeNaam” Mega Plantation Drive 2026 on 30th July 2026 under the inspiring theme “Plant Today… Breathe Better Tomorrow.” The initiative was aimed at promoting environmental conservation, enhancing green cover and biodiversity, and encouraging students to take an active role in building a sustainable future. The campaign also carried a special emotional significance by encouraging participants to dedicate a tree to their mothers as a symbol of love, gratitude and responsibility towards nature.
The plantation drive was conducted under the guidance of Prof.(Dr.) Isha Malhotra, (Principal), Prof. (Dr.) Hansraj, (Registrar), All Heads of Departments and NSS Programme Officers, who motivated students and volunteers to actively participate in the environmental initiative. Their guidance encouraged the volunteers to view plantation not merely as a one-day activity but as a long-term responsibility towards the environment.
As part of the campaign, the college was assigned a target of planting 250 saplings. NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in planting a variety of saplings across the college campus and designated green spaces. The activity provided students with an opportunity to contribute directly towards improving the campus environment while developing greater awareness of the importance of trees, biodiversity and ecological balance.
An important aspect of the initiative was the commitment of volunteers to adopt and nurture the planted saplings. Students were encouraged to take responsibility for their regular care and healthy growth, thereby ensuring that the plantation activity translates into a sustained environmental effort. This approach reinforced the importance of individual responsibility in achieving meaningful and lasting environmental impact.
The drive also promoted teamwork, community service and environmental consciousness among the participating volunteers. Working together towards a common environmental goal enabled students to understand the significance of collective action and responsible citizenship. The initiative further reflected the NSS motto, “Not Me But You,” by inspiring students to contribute selflessly towards creating a cleaner, greener and healthier environment for society and future generations.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to protect and nurture the planted saplings and continue supporting environmental conservation initiatives. The “EkPedMaaKeNaam” Mega Plantation Drive 2026 served as a meaningful platform for students to combine environmental responsibility with the values of gratitude, service and sustainability, strengthening the institution’s efforts towards promoting a greener and more responsible community.
