One Day Workshop Virtual Lab
15th February 2019
Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon in association with IIT Delhi has conducted one - day workshop on "Virtual Labs" on 15th February 2019. Mr. Ashish Mudgil, Senior Field Engineer along with Mr. Rajat and Ms. Divya Priya, Field Engineers, IIT Delhi V-Lab were the resource persons for the workshop. 60 students of 2nd year IT & CSIT department participated in the workshop.
Virtual Labs is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt of India (GOI) under the National mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT).
The aim of the workshop was to create awareness on the utilization of web-based experiments among the students and enhance their learning outcome through simulations and visualization techniques.
Mr. Ashish Mudgil, Virtual Lab Expert, IIT Delhi, started the session with the brief introduction of Virtual Labs. He briefed, the basic purpose of Virtual Lab was to enhance the knowledge of students by providing the remote - access to Labs in various disciplines of Science and Engineering. These labs also share the costly equipment and resources, which are otherwise available to limited number of users due to constraints of cost and geographical distance.
He also explained the Virtual Lab portal, its important features and accesses of various labs developed by different participating institutes. Virtual Labs cater to students at the undergraduate level, post graduate level as well as to research scholars.
Ms. Divya Priya, further demonstrated image processing experiments through virtual lab. Students got to know various means and methods by which they can perform experiments at their own ease and convenience.
Overall, the workshop was a good exposure to get the basic knowledge and applying the same to various domains of engineering. It was a learning experience for undergraduate level students to perform experiments and clear the concepts of Virtual Labs and utilizing the Lab portal.
