FIVE DAY SHORT TERM COURSE ON "GREEN BULIDING &
TECHNIQUES THROUGH ICT" IN COLLABORATION WITH NITTTR, CHANDIGARH
4th - 8th February 2019
Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurgaon in collaboration with NITTTR, Chandigarh conducted a five - day short term course on "Artificial Green Building & Techniques through ICT" under the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT) from 4th - 8th February 2019. 11 Faculty members from Civil Engineering & Basic science Departments of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the short term course. Mr. Krishanu Kundu , Assistant Professor, coordinated the STC.
4th February 2019:
The inauguration was held in presence of Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kr. Sharma, Professor& Head Dept. of Civil Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh. More than fifteen institutes from all over India participated in the short term course. Prof.(Dr.) Sharma initiated the short term course by stating "A Green Building is one which uses less water, optimizes energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier space for occupants as compared to conventional buildings." He highlighted according to surveys conducted, 107.3 million acres of total land area is developed, which represents an increase of 24 percent land covering green buildings over the past 3 years. In terms of energy, buildings accounted for 39.4 percent of total energy consumption and 67.9 percent of total electricity consumption.
Prof. Himmi Gupta took the next session and gave an overview of full course and briefed the importance of Green building construction in present scenario.
Next session was headed by Mr. Surinder Bahga, Director, Saakar Foundation,Chd. The topic of discussion was "Architectural Design of Green Buildings".
5th February 2019:
Dr. R. S. Saini Director, Green Economy Initiatives, Chd discussed "Indoor Air Quality & its Monitoring". Harry Sidhu, Retd. Additional Chief Engineer, MES focused on "Building Envelope Design" in his lecture. Sustainable Design of Buildings was topic of discussion by Ar. Jit Kumar Gupta, Chairman, IGBC.
6th February 2019:
Jit Kumar Gupta, Chairman, IGBC discussed "Green Building Rating Systems". "Energy Efficient HVAC Design for Green buildings" was topic of discussion by Er. Anuj Aggarwal, Director, Ambience, Chd.
Later session was headed by Er. Money Khanna, Project Manager, PEDA, Chd. Â "Energy Conservation Building Code" was precisely discussed in the session.
7th February 2019:
Session started with discussion on "Green construction Practices" by Prof. Himmi Gupta, Dept. of Civil Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh. Remaining session followed by Er. Abhimanyu  Deswal Director Global Land Master.Chd on "Green Materials".
8th February 2019:
Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kr. Sharma, Professor& Head Dept. of Civil Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh discussed about "Sustainable Water Management". Cool Roof Technology was topic of discussion by Cool Roof Paints.
Then, the valediction session was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kr. Sharma, Professor& Head Dept. of Civil Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh. Attendees and chief guests at all the remote centers shared their experience of the STC and congratulated and thanked NITTTR. Dr. B. M. K. Prasad, Principal, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon
thanked and congratulated all the dignitaries from NITTTR and participants from all centers and expressed his gratitude to the chief guests. The STC was concluded by Prof. Himmi Gupta with her valedictory speech.
Overall the STC proved to be fruitful as the participants learnt a lot on importance and utilization of Green Building Techniques.
