STC on Emerging Engineering Technologies at NITTTR Chandigarh
3rd - 7th February 2020
A one week short term course on Emerging Engineering Technologies was organized at NITTTR Chandigarh from 3rd - 7th February 2020. Faculties from various colleges attended the course. Faculty members Cheela Annapurna Mounica(Assistant Professor), Civil Engineering Department and Priyanka Singh (Assistant Professor), Mechanical Engineering Department from Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurugram, Top Engineering College in Delhi, NCR attended the Short Term Course.
DAY-1
Inauguration addressed by Dr. Ashok Kumar, HOD, Department of Basics Sciences, NITTTR followed by a detailed introduction and an overview of the course.
Next Dr. Ashok Kumar gave session on introduction to various "Emerging Engineering Technologies and Thin Film Technology". He gave a brief description on thin and thick film, its working and its relation to Emerging Technologies. The session resumed on emerging quantum LEDs by Dr. Pankaj Sharma. In the session he discussed about quantum dots, electrons, absorbance, epitaxial methods and their application in the field of Science and Technology and also discussed about light emitters and laser ablation, techniques.
DAY-2
Second day started with discussion on "Nanomaterials and Devices" by Dr. Ashok Kumar. Various aspects such as Moore's Law, Nano Scale Devices were discussed.
The Mathematical problems on Nano Scale Technology were explained by Dr. Balvinder Singh. Session was resumed by Dr. Meenakshi Sood with discussion on "Green Technology, Clean Technology and Carbon Foot Printing". Later "Solar Panels" at parking places which is already being implemented in countries US was explained. This can be recommended to implement in Indian Colleges also.
DAY 3:
The day started with discussion on "Internet of Things (IoT)" viz. twitter, Facebook etc. by Dr. Srinivasa K.G. He explained, through IOT a revolution on browsing started. Later Giant Magnetic Resistance, Conductivity and its types, and its morphology were explained.
A discussion on “Nano Sensor Technology” by Dr. Ashok Kumar continued in which Youngs, Double Slit experiment, Raman effect, See beck effect, Optimization and its applications were explained in detail. Next a discussion on "Applications of Optimization" was done by Dr. K.C Lachhawani.
DAY 4:
Fourth day started with a discussion on "Self-Healing Polymerization" by Dr. Debendra Prasad Mandal. He explained concepts on Self-Healing Polymers and Composites. The technology was developed using Anti-Bacterial Fungus.
A discussion on Lithium Ion and Lithium Sulfur batteries and its applications were demonstrated.
Later the Nano Science Technological Lab was shown by the staff of NITTTR for practical demonstration.
DAY 5:
Fifth day started with discussion by Dr. B.C Chaudhary on "Laser Technology" and its applications in the field of Science and Technology, Medicine, Defense Industry etc. were explained.
Later a discussion on Artificial Neural Network and its applications in the Field on Engineering were explained.
In the last session a feedback form was filled by all the participants of the STC. Relieving Certificate of the training programme was provided by the Course Coordinator Dr. Ashok Kumar and the course ended with a vote of thanks.
