One Day Workshop on "Python"

A one day workshop on 'Python' for faculty members was conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay on 22nd June 2019 at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon through ICT under the aegis of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. 21 faculty members from DCE, Gurgaon and 17 faculty members from others colleges participated in the workshop.
The workshop started with the inaugural address by Prof. Prabhu Ramachandran, (Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Bombay). He discussed the importance of Python Programming. The inaugural session ended with interaction with remote centres.
After inaugural session, hands-on practice on Python and spoken tutorial forums started in the lab. Participants also completed assignments wherein their knowledge and understanding was tested. The videos were self-explanatory and well designed to be understood.
Topics covered in the workshop were: Getting started with IPython, Using the plot command, Embellishing a plot, Saving Plots, Multiple Plots, Additional features of IPython, Loading data from files, Plotting the data, Sage notebook, Symbolics, Using sage, Getting started with lists, Getting started with for, Getting started with strings, Parsing data, Statistics, Arrays.
The workshop ended with the one-hour Question/Answer Session with the Remote Centres through A-View in which Prof. Prabhu Ramachandran along with his team answered all the questions put up by the faculty members of various remote centres.
Overall, it was a knowledgeable workshop as it was completely hands-on workshop.
