FAER McAfee Scholar Award Program 2019

Three project teams and Faculty Coordinator Ms. Swati Sharma from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon, participated in "FAER-McAfee Scholar Award Program 2019" organized by the Foundation for Advancement of Education and Research (FAER) at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. DCE project teams were among the top 37 teams selected for the finale on 13th - 14th June 2019 out of 440 projects all over India.
FAER is a non-governmental, non-profitable initiative open to all. Several educational institutions and industries are currently the associate partners of the foundation. Its main objective is to bring together industry leaders and academics and Introduction of new innovative programs, setting up of new institutions, development of inexpensive devices and kits for use by all.
The day began with presentation round. Each project team was given 10 minutes to deliver a project presentation which was followed by question and answer session.
Next session was dedicated to demonstration where students were required to display their products, designs and innovations in front of distinguished panel of judges. All three teams from DCE college, namely "Augmented Reality Smart Glasses", "PCB Plotter" and "Detection of Distracted Drivers using Machine learning" performed exceptionally well in both rounds.
Results for the presentation and demonstration round were announced on 14th June 2019 during the AWARD CEREMONY in the august presence of several eminent personalities from industry and academics.
The project "Augmented Reality Smart Glasses" comprising of team members Shristhi and Vaishali Gupta from ECE-VII Semester under the guidance of Mrs. Parul Bansal (Assistant Professor) secured 1st Position in the competition and received certificates along with Rs 1,00,000 cash prize.
Other two projects from the college "PCB Plotter" comprising of team members Abhishek and Mayank Nanda of ECE-VII Semester guided by Mr. Chandra Shekhar Singh and college "DETECTION OF DISTRACTED DRIVERS USING MACHINE LEARNING" comprising of team members Deepanshu Sharma, Naman Magan, Palak Kakkar and Anoushka Guleria guided by Dr. Ashima Mehta received Project scholarship worth Rs. 5000.
Special lectures by experts were organized during the Award Ceremony to motivate and inspire students for taking their innovation further. Overall, the event was a great exposure and learning experience for students as they got an opportunity to showcase their innovative project work at a national platform.
