World Red Cross Day

NSS Units, Dronacharya College of Engineering observed World Red Cross Day on 8th May 2026 under the guidance of Dr. Anupam Dalal with the objective of promoting humanitarian values, blood donation awareness, community health, and youth participation in social service activities. The celebration reflected the spirit of the theme, “Everything We Do Comes from the Heart,”highlighting compassion, empathy, and service to humanity.
The programme included various student-centric activities to encourage awareness and active participation. An Essay Writing Competition on “The Role of Youth in Strengthening Global Health Systems” witnessed enthusiastic participation, where students shared meaningful insights on healthcare challenges, volunteerism, and humanitarian service.
An awareness seminar was also conducted to educate students about the history and mission of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, highlighting the contributions of Henry Dunant and his humanitarian vision.
A technical session by NSS Programme Officers on “The Importance of Technology for Blood Donation Awareness” emphasized the role of digital platforms, mobile applications, and social media in promoting voluntary blood donation, managing donor databases, and spreading awareness. Students were encouraged to use their technical and digital skills for social welfare initiatives and awareness campaigns.
The programme concluded with a pledge by NSS volunteers to continue serving humanity and actively contribute to community welfare. The event successfully sensitized students about the importance of humanitarian service, blood donation, and the role of technology in strengthening healthcare support systems.
