3rd June 2026
NSS Cell, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Khentawas, Gurugram, organized a meaningful celebration of World Bicycle Day on June 3, 2026, to promote environmental sustainability, healthy living, and eco-friendly transportation. The event was conducted under the guidance of NSS Program Officer Dr. Anupam Dalal and witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, faculty members, and students. The celebration aimed to create awareness about the importance of cycling as a simple yet effective step towards reducing pollution and conserving the environment.
The program commenced with an informative awareness session on environmental safety and sustainable mobility. Addressing the participants, Dr.Anupam highlighted the growing environmental concerns caused by increasing vehicular emissions and emphasized the role of cycling in reducing carbon footprints. Students were encouraged to adopt cycling for short-distance travel and contribute actively towards building a cleaner and healthier society.
As a part of the celebration, a pledge-taking ceremony was organized where participants resolved to embrace environmentally responsible practices and promote green habits in their daily lives. This was followed by an awareness bicycle rally that was flagged off from the college campus. Carrying placards and banners with messages advocating environmental conservation and pollution-free transportation, the participants spread awareness among local residents about the benefits of cycling and sustainable living.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment towards environmental stewardship and healthy lifestyles. The successful organization of the program reflected the institution’s dedication to social responsibility and sustainable development. The NSS Cell expressed its gratitude to the college management and Principal Dr. Isha Malhotra for their constant encouragement and support in making the celebration a grand success.
