The occasion was graced by Dr. Shambhu Dayal Sharma, Ph.D. (Yoga), Chief Guest and Yoga Trainer, who shared valuable insights into the role of Yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being. An alumnus of NIT Kurukshetra and IIM Kolkata and former CEO of NECL, Dr. Sharma emphasized the importance of yogic discipline and healthy living. Shri Satyavir Yadav, retired engineer from Indian Railways, joined as the Guest of Honour and highlighted the significance of an active and disciplined lifestyle for healthy ageing. Under their expert guidance, Dr. Isha Malhotra, Principal, DCE Gurugram, along with faculty members, staff, and NSS volunteers, participated in a guided Yoga and meditation session featuring various asanasand pranayama practices. Adding an energetic dimension to the celebration, a Yoga Awareness Race was organized for NSS volunteers. Carrying placards and raising awareness slogans, participants conveyed the message of adopting Yoga and regular physical activity as part of a healthy routine. An educational quiz session further enriched the programme by testing participants’ knowledge of the history, philosophy, practices, and benefits of Yoga. Questions also highlighted the role of yogic practices in supporting cognitive health, emotional stability, and a balanced lifestyle.
A special moment of the programme was the presentation of Holy Bhagavad Gita copies to two volunteers as a gesture of encouragement and spiritual guidance. The initiative conveyed the importance of values such as truth, honesty, righteousness, self-discipline, and ethical conduct. It also connected the physical practice of Yoga with its deeper principles of inner discipline, self-awareness, and responsible living.
Bringing together guided practice, awareness activities, learning, and reflection, the programme created a meaningful experience for everyone involved. The enthusiastic participation of the NSS volunteers and the guidance provided by the distinguished guests added value to the celebration. The occasion concluded with an inspiring message that healthy ageing is supported by mindful living, regular physical activity, positive habits, and a balanced approach to life, encouraging participants to carry the spirit of Yoga beyond the celebration and incorporate its principles into their daily routines.
