Celebration of International Yoga Day (IYD)-2018

Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon celebrated the International Yoga Day (IYD) on 21st June 2018 in the College Campus. On this auspicious day students & staff members from the college participated in yoga which is undoubtedly a scientific process leading to our physical, mental and spiritual development.
Inaugurating the Yoga Day celebration, the Principal Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasad reiterated that Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.
Under the guidance of the yoga trainer Mr. Mukesh Sharma, volunteers practiced Kapalbhati, Pranayam, asanas like Tadasana, Vriksasana, Pada-Hastasana, Ardha Cakrasana, Trikonasana etc. Mr. Mukesh Sharma is an expert in Yoga and has done his M.Sc in Science of Living Preksha Meditation & Yoga and Masters in Physical Education. He has good experience and won many medals in Yoga competition. While teaching various Asanas, he stressed on their importance and how they can help us in maintaining good health. He also covered Meditation and all volunteers were made to practice meditation.
The celebration ended with a vote of thanks by the Principal Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasad wherein he expressed his heart-felt gratitude to everyone for participation in the International Yoga Day-2018. Addressing the volunteers, he elaborated how yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. He also thanked Mr. Mukesh Sharma for conducting the Yoga session in a professional manner and teaching important Asanas, Meditation and its benefits in maintaining good health.
Overall, it was a wonderful day celebrated by Dronacharyans with a mission to strengthen the global coordination among people through Yoga.
