Hands-on FDP on "Predictive Modeling using R"
24th October 2021
Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Predictive Modeling using R” on 24th October, 2021. 8 faculty members attended the FDP. The trainer of the FDP was Dr. Manoj Kumar from DCRUST Murthal.
The program was aimed at equipping faculty members with the skills and knowledge needed to develop predictive models using the R programming language.
The FDP began with an introduction to predictive modeling and its applications. The speaker explained how predictive modeling can be used to make informed decisions based on data analysis and how it can be applied in various fields, such as finance, healthcare, and marketing.
Then, the speaker explained how predictive models can be used to analyze and interpret data, and to make predictions about future outcomes.
Next, the basics of R programming were introduced, including data structures, functions, and libraries. The speaker explained how R can be used to manipulate and analyze data, and to create visualizations.
Several predictive modeling techniques were then discussed, including linear regression, logistic regression, and decision trees. The speaker explained how these techniques can be used to create predictive models, and provided examples of how they have been used in various real-world scenarios.
The program also included hands-on sessions where attendees had the opportunity to apply the concepts they had learned to real data sets. Participants were guided through the process of importing data into R, cleaning and preparing the data, and creating predictive models using different techniques.
The program concluded with a discussion of the challenges and limitations of predictive modeling using R. The speaker emphasized the need to carefully consider the data being used, and to choose the appropriate modeling technique based on the nature of the data and the research question being addressed.
