Pot-a-Plant: Go Green Competition

Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon under the flagship of MHRD Innovation Cell, organized a Pot-a-Plant: Go Green Competition on 24th October 2019 to spread awareness about the environment and different types of plants among students, at college campus. Students from nearby schools participated in the competition.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Amar Saraswat, Assistant Professor, IT Department and Ms. Priya Kochhar, Assistant Professor, CSE Department. The Jury members included Ms. Vimmi Malhotra, Ms. Saloni, Ms. Ashu Khurana and Ms. Anita Choudhary from CSE and IT Department.
Each participant presented various issues related to the environment and their solutions. Some of them included "say No to plastics", "Plant more & more trees", "Save Environment", "Say NO to crackers this Diwali", "Increasing Pollution" etc.
Next, each participant explained the plant, allotted to them by the college. The students were given the time to research on the plant and present it in front of all. Some of the plants included papaya plant, syngonium, peepal plant, tulsi, basil plant, succulents etc.
Then, the oath taking ceremony was conducted by Mr. Amar Saraswat. All the judges and participants took oath to save nature by avoiding plastic bags, plant one tree on their birthday, and not to burn crackers anymore.
In the end, the judges announced the results, Manav & Akriti stood first, Pallavi & Shivangi obtained second position and Tanu & Anand Pratap and Gaurav Kumar secured third position.
In the end, Mr. Saraswat delivered the vote of thanks.
The competition proved to be fruitful for the students as they came to know the benefits of various plants and got curiosity to grow more plants by "Pot-a-Plant: Go Green Competition".
