Pedagogy for Online and Blended Teaching-Learning Process

Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon in association with IIT Bombay conducted face to face interaction of two week (3rd - 30th May 2018 ) AICTE approved Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Pedagogy for Online and Blended Teaching-Learning Process - FDP201x'" under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission for Teachers and Teaching(PMMMNMTT), MHRD, Govt. of India on 12th, 13th, 26th & 27th May 2018.
FDP program was planned with an aim to identify various ICT devices and applications useful in teaching learning and developing awareness towards ethical practices for use of ICT in education.
The participants who have successfully qualified the “Foundation Program in ICT for Education (FDP-101 x)” were eligible to attend the FDP-201 X "Pedagogy for Online and Blended Teaching-Learning Process."
FDP Program comprised of three Modules.
Online work by individual participants: Participants accessed the online platform, with an online test every week.
Face-to-face interaction - The participants physically attended the sessions at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon. It was focused interactive sessions between the faculty from IIT Bombay and the participating teachers. Face-to-Face A-view Interactive sessions were held on 12, 13, 26 & 27 May 18.
Team Assignment: Teams of 2-3 members were formed amongst the participants at each RC. Each team leader was required to create an OER and submit the same online. Each participant has to spend adequate effort, albeit in a coordinated manner with other members of the team.
Day 1 (Face to Face Interaction on 12 May 2018)
Prof. Mr. Jayakrishnan M (IDP in ET, IIT Bombay) discussed the MOOCs integrations with the regular education. He took the problems on the MOOCs implementation with the regular methods of teaching. During the session the importance Wiki-space and explained by giving certain practical examples. Various aspects of the Wiki-space were demonstrated by the PDF of the given project. Queries related to the lab session held during the session were also discussed. He also interacted with faculties of the various Remote Center and discussed the various interactive educational teaching styles.
Day 2 (Face to Face Interaction on 13th May 2018, Sunday)
Prof. Jayakrishanan M started the session with a discussion on how assignments and Group Activities have been done by the participants and RC Coordinators at several remote centers across India. As the next assignment, Prof. Jayakrishanan asked the Remote Centers to interact among themselves DCE, Gurgaon remote center was assigned the role of the teacher and nine RCs were allocated to DCE. In the break out session, all RCs in the group presented the Moodle activities through A- view and the query and doubts of the RC’s were discussed and the clarified.
Day 3 (Face to Face Interaction on 26th May 18, Saturday)
Prof. Jayakrishanan moderated session on Evaluation of teaching and learning process. He mainly cleared the doubts associated to evaluation of the teaching learning process, evaluate the effectiveness of efffective learning process, doubts mentioning that with the matrix dealing method and by looking over increased strength and interest one could easilly evalute the efffetiveness. The active interaction session with the participant of various colleges cleared the doubts of all the faculty members of the Participating institute.
Next session was based on the strategies to make the FDP open by self enrolment to the course using email id, Publish each resource and activity separately in a public website (like FDP Wordpress site or NMEICT website), Publish backup of course in a public site.
The last session of the interaction was on “OER Clarification and group activity”. OER Group formation and discussion activities were conducted headed by Mr. Jayakrishnan M (IDP in ET, IIT Bombay). In the session different OER Groups was formulated and then clarification on different topics were discussed between the groups. The OER session helped the faculties in reinforcing their concepts, and brought new ideas regarding the same programme.
Day 4 (Face to Face Interaction on 27th May 2018, Sunday)
The session was Moderated by DCE, Gurgoan with other RC of the Group. In the session the best practices of the Moodle account created by various RC were discussed. Some of the faculties from various RC shared the methods they are applying in there active learning process.
Next session was on “Floor Transfer to RCs For Feedback”. Feedbacks from different remote centres across the country were shared.
The FDP programs brought the promising outcomes in the learning and teaching practices.This FDP has fostered the learning of new skills and knowledge and upgraded the skill set of the teacher in order to include technological advancements. It also provided an opportunity for a faculty members to interact with distinguished faculty of IIT’s and other participating institute.
