GOOGLE FOR INDIA
Google India organised “Google for Everyone-Developer Track” on 16th December 2015 at Hotel Pullman Aerocity, New Delhi. Two students, Birender Singh Rawat (16043) and Brijesh Aggarwal (16044) from Department of Computer Sciences & Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the event.
The speakers of the event included Mr. Kunal Soni, Head of Business Development, Google Play, SEA India & Australia, Mr. Francis Ma, Senior Product Manager, Developer Products Group, Google, Ms. Tal Oppenheimer, Product Manager, Chrome for Android, Mr. Paul Kinlan, Developer Advocate & Lead, Chrome Developer Relations, and Mr. Jason Titus, Vice President, Developer Product Group, Google Inc.
The event started with the keynote address by Mr. Kunal Soni, in which he discussed that India has highest producer of mobile application and quality product. Mr. Soni also discussed about key challenges that are faced in India while browsing, data cost and using application interface, along with 3C’s Framework i.e Connectivity, Compatibility, Cost.
Mr. Francis Ma shared the enhancements in the Android studio 2.0, and focussed on various aspects such as material design, android and chrome. Mr. Ma encouraged the developers to engage them on Web through some techniques like push notifications, work offline, etc.
Mr. Jason Titus shared his experiences and said that world is coming online through web and outlines Google’s vision on helping Indian developers succeed and also discussed that how it builds great mobile experiences for the world.
Then, two panel discussions were organized during the event, which were purely meant to increase the knowledge of all the young developers in their vicinity, by Mr. Kunal Soni and Mr. Jason Titus. During the discussion, moderators discussed about several issues from the founders and managers of India’s most leading companies like Snapdeal, Grofers, Times of India, Culture alley etc.
The panellists provided great insight of their application, by explain the issues and challenges which they faced, and how they brought their applications to the end users. They also shared several parameters, which one has to follow to make their application successful. Mr. Jason Titus focussed on the ideas which a developer should have in his mind before building an application.
The post panel discussion session was conducted by Mr. Paul Kinlan. He enlightened all by providing the knowledge in the domain of web development for mobile and desktop and discussed about the progressive web application and its services.
In the end, Ms. Tal Oppenheimer discussed about several constrains that could affect an application, like screen size, RAM, Device Storage and how to optimize them in a better way. The event proved to be very fruitful as attendees got an opportunity to get experience from Global Leaders of Google, as they shared their vision on how technology can change people's lives for the better tomorrow.
