World Bicycle Day 2025
3rd June 2025
NSS Units of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, enthusiastically observed World Bicycle Day on 3rd June 2025 to emphasize the significance of cycling as an environmentally friendly and health-promoting means of transportation. The event aimed to encourage sustainable living, raise awareness about fitness, and inspire people to reduce their carbon footprint through the regular use of bicycles.
The day commenced with a Bicycle Rally that was inaugurated by the faculty coordinators. Numerous NSS volunteers and students took part in the rally, cycling through the nearby routes of Farrukhnagar and adjoining areas. They carried banners and placards bearing powerful messages such as “Ride for a Cleaner Planet,”“Pedal towards a Healthier Future,” and “Go Green, Ride a Cycle.” The rally spread a strong message on sustainability and inspired the local community to consider bicycles as a practical and eco-conscious alternative to motor vehicles.
During the rally, the volunteers interacted with residents and passersby, sharing insights about the health and environmental benefits of cycling — including improved fitness levels, reduced air pollution, and conservation of energy resources.
After the rally, an awareness session was conducted on the college campus. Faculty members addressed the gathering, highlighting the global importance of World Bicycle Day and the need to adopt small but impactful lifestyle changes. They emphasized that choosing bicycles over motorized transport not only benefits personal health but also contributes significantly to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a cleaner environment.
The celebration concluded with a pledge ceremony, where students and faculty members vowed to make cycling a regular habit and encourage others to follow suit. The enthusiasm of the NSS volunteers showcased their commitment to sustainable living and environmental protection.
World Bicycle Day 2025 was a meaningful initiative that successfully spread the message of living a cleaner, greener, and healthier life — in true alignment with the NSS motto, “Not Me But You.”
When you ride a bicycle, you become part of the solution — not part of the pollution.”
