Workshop on Industrial Automation and Mechatronics (Industry 4.0)
19th June 2021
Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized a workshop on "Industrial Automation and Mechatronics (Industry 4.0)" on 19th June 2021. Prof. Yudhveer Verma was the speaker of the session.
Prof. Yudhveer started the session and discussed Industrial and Machine Automation has become an integral part of all modern and digital manufacturing processes and is constantly getting upgraded along with the latest technological developments. This ensures the increased productivity with improved product quality and reliability at a lower cost.
Moving the session further Prof. Yudhveer explained Pneumatic and Electro Pneumatic component. He explained Pneumatic signal flow is from bottom to top whereas Electrical circuit elements are numbered, following the direction of signal flow from top to bottom and from left to right.
Further he explained various pneumatic symbols. He told directional air control valves are the building blocks of pneumatic control. Pneumatic circuit symbols representing these valves provide detailed information about the valve they represent. Symbols show the methods of actuation, the number of positions, the flow paths and the number of ports.
He also explained how to identify pneumatic circuits. He told a pneumatic circuit is an interconnected set of components that convert compressed gas into mechanical work. The circuit comprises the following components: Active components, Transmission lines, Passive components, FRL - Filter Regulator and Lubricator.
Lastly he explained how to construct the circuit as per the requirement. Next students are also given hand-on experience for design the circuit.
Overall it was a knowledgeable session.
