Diwali with My Bharat Programme

NSS Units, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, under the leadership of Dr. Anupam Dalal (NSS, Programme Officer) actively participated in the nationwide "My Bharat Diwali", a campaign launched by the Government of India to promote community service and national pride. The initiative, which spanned from 27th to 30th October, 2024, encouraged citizens to participate in various activities, including cleanliness drives, social service, and cultural programs aligned with the government's vision of a "Viksit Bharat @ 2047".
In collaboration with the Merchant Association, Traffic Police, and local hospitals, DCE's NSS volunteers embarked on a series of community service activities, aligning with the core principles of Swachhta Hi Seva, Sewa Se Sikho, and Swabhav Swachhta Sanskar Swachhta.
Key Activities Undertaken included
Traffic Management Assistance: NSS volunteers partnered with the Traffic Police to manage traffic congestion at crucial intersections, especially during peak hours. They assisted in directing traffic, ensuring smooth flow, and reducing traffic-related accidents.
Hospital Volunteering: Volunteers visited local hospitals, including ESI Hospital in Sector 9A, Gurugram. They assisted hospital staff in various tasks, such as patient care, administrative work, and maintaining cleanliness. Volunteers also interacted with patients, offering emotional support and spreading cheer.
Market Cleanliness Drive: In collaboration with the Merchant Association, NSS volunteers organized a comprehensive cleanliness drive in the 9A Market. They removed litter, cleaned public spaces, and promoted waste segregation and recycling practices. The initiative aimed to create a cleaner and healthier market environment for both shopkeepers and customers.
Benefit/Outcome: The "My Bharat Diwali" initiative had a significant impact on the local community. The assistance provided by volunteers helped alleviate traffic congestion and ensured smoother traffic flow. The volunteers' support at the hospital contributed to improved patient care and overall hospital efficiency. The cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns promoted a cleaner and healthier community. The initiative brought together students, faculty, and community members in a shared effort to serve society.
