A one day Coordinators' Workshop on Scilab was conducted by IIT, Bombay on 16th April 2019 at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon (Remote Centre ID : 1299) was organized under the aegis of 'Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching' (PMMMNMTT), funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
The workshop was conducted by Prof. Kannan Moudgalya, Principal Investigator, NVLI and Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay. Prof. Chandra Shekhar Singh, HOD, Department of ECE/EEE, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon was the local coordinator.
Session started with interaction with Prof. Kannan Moudgalya. He explained the utility of Scilab. He told coordinators workshop was a blended training programme that uses A-VIEW for live interactions and Spoken Tutorials to learn to use Scilab. There was about 4 hours available for Scilab training and 2 hours for face-to-face interactions.
After the interactive session in morning, Scilab training was conducted for four hours through Spoken Tutorials. The Spoken Tutorials consisted of various levels starting from the basic level, i.e. Vector Operations, Matrix Operations, Conditional branching, Iterations, Scripts and Functions, Plotting 2D graphs, Introduction to Xcos. The basic level was followed by intermediate level, which included file handling, user defined input and output, integration, solving non-linear equations, linear equations - Gaussian methods etc.
After the Scilab training, an interactive session was again conducted by Prof. Kannan Moudgalya with participants on their queries on Scilab workshop.
