Visit to: CSIR- NPL Open Day, 2022
28th September 2022
Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized a visit to CSIR- NPL, New Delhi. 30 students along with Prof. Pooja Sharma (EEE Dept.) went to visit National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.
The objective of the visit was to provide exposure to strengthen and advance physics-based research and development for the overall development of science and technology in the young minds.
Students visited the superconductor laboratory and understood superconductivity phenomenon and also saw the hands-on demonstration of Meissner effect. They also viewed the kit used for determination of electrical and thermal properties of superconductors. Next, students visited the Raman spectroscopy lab and learned about the applications of Raman spectroscopy in various fields containing medical uses. The students also visited the Sound Transmission lab and had an experience of complete reflection and absorption rooms. They learned the methods used in sound transmission. Next students visited Auditorium and watched a small movie based on achievements of NPL.
In particular, students learned about research areas of physics. Students also understood that tasks by precision measurements, calibration, development of devices, processes and other allied problems are related to physics.
The visit to NPL was knowledgeable and proved to be informative as students understood various developments that took place in the field of Science and Technology.
