National Girl Child Day

NSS Club of Dronacharya College of Engineering organized and celebrated National Girl Child Day on 24th January 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members. The celebration aimed to spread awareness about the importance of the girl child and to address issues related to gender discrimination and inequality prevalent in society.
The events conducted as part of the celebration included Poster Making, Essay Writing, and Poetry Writing. The themes focused on saving and encouraging the girl child, female feticide, women empowerment through education, women in politics and women trafficking.
Students from all departments along with several faculty members, actively participated in the events. Faculty participation, particularly in the poetry writing event, added immense value and inspiration for students. The poetry competition witnessed several thought-provoking entries, reflecting deep emotions and social concerns. Themes of freedom, empowerment, dignity, and the right to life of the girl child were powerfully expressed.
The Essay Writing Competition saw an overwhelming response with around 40 participants. Essays were written in multiple languages, highlighting topics such as female feticide, women empowerment, and the pivotal role of women in nation-building. Participants also wrote about inspirational women personalities such as Kalpana Chawla, Saina Nehwal, Indira Gandhi, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Mary Kom, and Kiran Bedi, emphasizing the importance of women’s education and empowerment.
The Poster Making Competition showcased the creativity and social awareness of students. Through visually impactful messages and illustrations, participants highlighted the importance of saving the girl child and eliminating discrimination. The posters conveyed strong messages such as “Save the Girl Child, Save the Future” and “Girls are Worth More than Gold”.
The competitions were evaluated by invited judges, who found it challenging to select winners due to the high quality and originality of the submissions. The winners were awarded trophies, and certificates were distributed to all participants to encourage and appreciate their efforts. The awards were presented by the respected Principal Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra Dronacharya College of Engineering, adding significance to the occasion.
